Local Dimming Technology Optical Products
Local Dimming technology (abbreviated as LDC) divides a conventional integrated backlight into several individually controllable zones. The brightness of each zone can be controlled separately, enhancing picture quality by improving contrast and reducing power consumption. This backlight solution is key for high-end displays and HDR performance.
PM (Passive Mode) Driver Architecture
This architecture utilizes driver ICs from companies such as TLI and Macroblock, where a single chip controls multiple zones via a serial control loop. Combined with POB or COB packaging layouts, it enables an effective zone dimming solution.
Zone count options include designs below 384, 576, 768, 1024, 1152, 1536, and 2304 zones. It primarily targets medium-sized display applications, meeting customer needs in light board design and structural constraints.
AM (Active Mode) Driver Architecture
This architecture utilizes power drivers with built-in main controllers from companies like Tuoermicro, Chipone, and Xianxin. It uses a hierarchical control method for synchronized response, enabling precise local dimming control.
High zone count designs range from below 1152 zones to over ten thousand zones, targeting medium-to-large sized displays and TVs. It offers flexibility in light board design and signal management architecture.
