2022 Q3 Global Tablet PC Shipments Reach 38.4 Million Units. Increase of more than 20%

News on November 21, according to the latest data from market research organization DIGITIMES Research, global tablet PC shipments in the third quarter of 2022 reached 38.4 million units, a month-on-month increase of more than 20%, slightly better than initial expectations, mainly due to orders from Apple’s.
4In Q3, the top five tablet PC brands in the world are Apple, Samsung, Amazon, Lenovo and Huawei, which jointly contributed about 80% of the global shipments.
The new generation of iPad will drive Apple’s shipments to further increase in the fourth quarter, up 7% quarter-on-quarter. Apple’s market share in the quarter increased to 38.2%, and Samsung’s market share was about 22%. Together they accounted for approximately 60% of sales for the quarter.

In terms of size, the combined shipment share of 10. x-inch and larger tablets rose from 80.6% in the second quarter to 84.4% in the third quarter.
The 10.x-inch segment alone accounted for 57.7% of all tablet sales during the quarter. Since most newly announced tablets and models still in development feature 10.95-inch or 11.x-inch displays,

It is expected that in the near future, the shipment share of 10. x-inch and above tablet PCs will rise to more than 90%, which will promote large-size display screens to become the mainstream specifications of future tablet PCs.

Thanks to the increase in iPad shipments, the shipments of ODM manufacturers in Taiwan will account for 38.9% of the global shipments in the third quarter, and will further increase in the fourth quarter.

Despite positive factors such as the release of the new iPad10 and iPad Pro and promotional activities by brand manufacturers.
However, due to shrinking end demand due to inflation, rising interest rates in mature markets and a weak global economy.
DIGITIMES expects global tablet shipments to decline by 9% quarter-on-quarter in the fourth quarter.
